There are many alternative fuel ideas, renewable fuels and alternative fuels programs that exist.
It is becoming more important everyday to move from using gasoline in our vehicles to using an alternative fuels programs. You will see this year the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt electric cars hit the US market and there will continue to be electric, hydrogen and other alternative fuel ideas that get introduced.
One area, that does not usually get a lot of attention is using Algae as renewable fuels. There have been hundreds of millions of dollars invested in using algae as an alternative fuel source.
Many top scientists and Venture Capitalists are betting on algae as a replacement to oil. There a video airing on our main site, that talks about and shows the process of using algae as renewable fuels for our vehicles, and in our products.
Check out the video below titled: Renewable Biodiesel Algae
Upcoming posts will focus on alternative fuel ideas, the use of renewable fuels, green jobs, best green companies and the future of green energy.
The Dutch government has provided funding for Biogas plants for small farmers in Vietnam to meet their energy needs.
In a video uploaded to our main site, you can see how farmers in Vietnam are using the manure from their livestock to produce biogas. These alternative fuels program and alternative fuel ideas can be applied to farms around the world.
Cool Fact: It costs about $250 US Dollars to construct a biogas plant in Vietnam and takes about 3 days to complete it.
General Motors just introduced the new EN-V Concept Vehicle at the Shanghai Expo.

There are many alternative fuel ideas and a variety of alternative fuels program.
A video was uploaded to our main site Green Energy TV that shows how how a Danish company is taking a waste product from making paper and turning it into an alternative fuels program.
The company is named Haldor Topsøe, and they are a an energy innovation technology which can transform black liquor (a waste product from paper production) into DME (DiMethyl Ether).
DME is a clean fuel, but can also be used for cars. Volvo, one of the project partners, has tested DME and named it 'the preferred fuel' among the green fuels available. The project taking place in Sweden, uses the entire technology chain: from the paper mill supplying black liquor via gas stations for fueling DME to trucks actually running on DME.
Learn more about their eco friendly inventions in the video below:
We hear a lot of news about Solar Energy, Wind Power and alternative fuels program, etc. but not too often do we hear about waste being used as energy.
A video was uploaded to our main site Green Energy TV showing how Waste Management takes landfill waste and converts it into energy.
The energy converted from waste can power 650,000 homes EVERY day. How do they do it? They use technology called Wheelabrator.
Wheelabrator - is a waste-to-energy technology that converts solid waste into clean, renewable electric power. Since the 1970s, Wheelabrator facilities have turned over 145 million tons of municipal solid waste into 75 billion kilowatt-hours of energy.
How do you turn trash to Gas? You can watch the video below and learn about the World's First Commercially Viable Flex-Ethanol Process.
Gas prices will probably always continue to fluctuate, and there is still a growing interest in energy independence, renewable fuels and an alternative fuels program.
Interest in domestically produced bio-fuels like ethanol (E85) is still on the rise. Coskata Inc., a leading developer of alternative fuels program on bio-fuels, announced the successful start-up of its semi-commercial flex-ethanol facility.
Cool Fact: Flex Fuel vehicles that can run on gas, E85 or a combination of both, and are already available from Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge and GMC. GM has built 5 million of these vehicles to date.

Are you or your company doing something to be Green?
Four years ago, Shai Agassi was hit with the question: How could you run a whole country without oil?
Shai Agassi believes that electric cars will be the major way for countries to impact emissions. His company, Better Place, has a radical plan to take entire countries oil-free by 2020.
We Awarded Better Place with Two Green Thumbs Up! for being one of the best green companies.
Better Place is the world’s leading electric vehicle (EV) services provider, catalyzing the transition to Sustainability Programs for the transportation industry.
Here are a few things Better Place does and why they received the Two Green Thumbs Up! Award:
Deliver services to enable confident adoption and use of EVs.
Build and operate the infrastructure and systems to optimize energy access and use.
Work with ecosystem players to enable a compelling and integrated solution.
Check out the Ted Talks video below where the founder of Better Place, Shai Agassi, talks about alternative fuel ideas and alternative fuels program.
General Motors recently claimed that their Chevy Volt will get 230 mpg and the Nissan Leaf claimed to get 367 mpg.
Is this all correct and what is it based on? The calculation both companies used for their vehicles is based on an Environmental Protection Agency proposal for calculating “mpgs” for electric cars.
Many experts believe that the EPA mileage ratings will change and there may be various ways to measure alternative fuels program in the near future.
As for cost, the Chevy Volt will retail around $40,000 and the Nissan Leaf will be in the neighborhood of $25,000-$30,000. These costs are not factoring in any of the tax incentives for going green yet either.
Let us know what your thoughts are on these two vehicles in the comments below and let's keep this conversation going.
There are plenty of alternative fuel ideas and alternative fuels programs where people use soy, switch-grass and many other vegetables and plants and convert them into a fuel.
But green algae energy continues to grow rapidly, not just in a lab, but in production across the country. Using algae as a replacement for oil is a real game changer and we continue to follow the development of this green algae energy market.
Millions of dollars from VC's to angel investors is pouring into the alternative fuels program for the development of algae as a fuel.
Last summer, when gas prices were $4 per gallon and in some places, even more, there were many alternative fuel ideas going around. Some were new, and many were an alternative fuels program that's been around and in use for over a hundred years.
The question is how many people are still pulling their trucks, cars and other vehicles up to a McDonald's or a fast food place or restaurant and taking the used cooking oil, filtering it and then filling up their gas tanks with the used oil?
Gas prices are starting to rise again, and even though the price of oil has been lower for a while, I am curious to know how many people out there are still using alternative fuel ideas, renewable fuels and their green inventions to take used cooking oil or another type of alternative and clean fuel to power their vehicles like the gentleman is doing in the video below:
Many people upload alternative energy videos to our main site www.GreenEnergyTV.com and I keep seeing more and more videos on green algae energy.
There has been a lot of progress on green algae energy, and there are more and more companies who are looking to use algae as a replacement for today's diesel, gasoline and other petroleum based products.
The video talks about how it is a clean energy innovation and claims that 98% of the water is recycled, no chemical toxins or waste product and the micro crops absorb CO2.
Check out the video below:
We will continue to feature green algae energy, companies going green, green jobs that are being created, alternative fuels program, alternative fuel ideas and new green inventions. - Stay Green!
There are many new sustainability programs in countries around the world. In the video below, this alternative fuels program in India supplies 12,000 homes with alternative fuels as well as fertilizer for farming.
VK Nardep won an Ashden Award for Sustainable Energy. It had installed 2,000 biogas plants in southern Tamil Nadu, India, to provide biogas for household cooking.
The plants use cattle manure to produce:
biogas
saving fuel-wood
reducing air pollution and fly-borne diseases.
VK- NARDEP has also recognized the significant potential of the output residue from biogas plants. This is used directly as a fertilizer and weed suppressor, giving significant benefits rural agriculture.
Check out this short video clip and Ashden Award Winner's video:
When looking at green cities, Croyden, UK is one the top green cities in Europe.
Bioregional won an Ashden Award for Sustainable Energy. It has established a 'TreeStation' – a centre where waste wood is received from many sources, turned into wood-chip and delivered for use as a heating fuel.
New equipment and green inventions enable the TreeStation to now have the capacity to process 15,000 tonnes per year.
BioRegional is also setting up drying facilities so that the wood-chip will have lower moisture content, and so be suitable for a wide range of boilers.
We will continue to feature alternative energy videos and discuss new green inventions, green cities, alternative fuel ideas, sustainability programs and more.
Saran Renewable Energy in India is a 2009 Ashden Award winner, and has set up a biomass gasifying plant in Bihar to supply energy to local businesses plagued by constant electricity cuts and reliant on noisy, dirty diesel generators.
One hundred local farmers now have a secure income supplying the plant with biomass made from a local plant and along with businesses nearby they now have stable, clean power for eight hours a day.
The gasifier saves around 100 tonnes of CO2 a year from diesel. Saran Renewable Energy's clean alternative fuels program is helping companies going green through their energy innovation, saving money, creating green jobs and by using green inventions and clean technology.
We will continue to keep you up to date on other alternative energy videos, alternative fuels program, eco friendly inventions, green inventions, hybrid cars, and more.
It was recently reported that gas prices will hit around $5.00 per gallon in the next couple months. We seem to have a short term memory when it comes to gas prices, but when they are high, we come up with alternative fuel ideas.
T. Boone Pickens has been pushing his alternative fuel ideas and alternative fuels program for a while. He outlines a plan to get America off of foreign oil, and urges people not to wait. It appears that when the gas prices increase again, we will have another call to action to do something about it.
If you are looking to get a head start or want to refresh your memory of last summer when gas prices were over $4.00 per gallon, then feel free to watch the T. Boone Pickens video below:
