Americans Gain 300 Million pounds from Thanksgiving to New Years

Thursday, December 18, 2008 by Craig Zamary
Studies show the average Thanksgiving meal contains more than 3,000 calories, kicking off a weeks-long holiday feeding frenzy and series of parties that is estimated to pack some 305 million pounds on to the national waistline by New Year's Eve. The New Year is not here yet, and there's still time to learn how some tips for living green will not only help you lose weight, but also save you money and the environment.

I do not know the exact figures, but if Americans put on an additional 305 million pounds of weight in approximately 36 days, there must be one hell of a carbon footprint attached to that as well. All the additional food we are eating has to be made, shipped, and then you have to go out in your vehicles to pick it up, then storage in the refrigerator. Oh yeah, and waste, the discarded food and packaging usually ends up in landfills and your toilet-sewage plant. Many studies show that people who eat organic natural foods tend to consume less food, and are more active.

This is a good time to jump-start an early New Year's Resolution too. Sign up and comment below on how you can save yourself from gaining weight and help save the environment in the process. I usually conclude be showing alternative energy videos, but today, I have a great video below that explains the truth about organic food. - Stay Green and HEALTHY Holidays!
